Fire makes everything better. This cake was deemed boring at the store and became a "flaming" success later at home
Animals are cute. Deer especially seem to have something endearing about them. Moose, on the other hand, are just different. Cute will never be an appropriate adjective for them, even when they are still in their infancy
This summer has provided ample opportunities to learn different scientific principles. First- reproductive biology:
What would the hypothetical offspring of THE BLOB and a SMURF look like? Here was our answer

I suppose you can imagine I am feeling pretty big right now :-)
Third-Mendelian Genetics: This monk got it right. Besides looking so much like their father, the boys have inherited so many of his traits. Even some of the smile inducing ones
Bryant and I have learned (or relearned) that apparently baths are much more fun when there is more than one person in the tub
And then the world is shrinking. When Gordon and Marba came to visit this summer we introduced them to the boys "Canadian Grandparents, Cyd and Gwen. We love them to death. Of course, in little time, the two sets of grandparents realized that they shared a lot in common.

These girls are some of Cyd and Gwen's grandchildren. Our boys are enamored with them and refer to them as the sister girlfriends. I think we might have a bit of a problem...
Driving lessons here in Canada can begin quite early in life. Bryant seemed all for it as our boys received driving lessons for automobiles, airplanes and motor boats this summer.

Sometimes it's tricky having two drivers

Nathaniel was intensely focused on driving... or ignoring the squished "backseat" driver

William was convinced he was using his "mind magic" to make it go faster
After proving they had learned how to drive, Bryant thought they were ready for the real thing. I don't know if I was, but it sure was fun!

Here is our merry band of Pirates. Don't they look fierce?

And our very own Captain Jack. (he's a little loco, too)

He's so proud of himself
Generally the faces we see on Sundays unfortunately look more like this:

I am SOOOO sad
![]() |
Don't you dare make me laugh , Dad
![]() |
Now I am sad and MAD. You guys are so mean!!!!!

Even big boys ready for kindergarten still love and want kisses from Dad
The summer has also taught us that our children have some amazing secret talents. One of them is the art of the photobomb.. They are quite good at it.
While spending time in Vancouver we still managed to learn a few things.
1- if a forest smells stinky, then it must be a boy forest.
2- totem poles are AWESOME!
3- Canada is definitely different than Arizona
I also realized this summer that we really are starting to become acclimatized to living here. Finally I am starting to appreciate Canadian humor
\ |
This was in a window of a house in the one of the flooded areas of the city. Even in chaos Canadians have a good sense of humor
I, on the other hand, am just plain tired all the time.
I guess as you can see we have learned a lot these last few months. Perhaps Bryant and I have learned the most. We have learned, and relearned, just how much we love our boys.
There is no doubt we think they are pretty amazing and are beyond special to us. Collectively they take our breath away -sometimes literally :-)
Each one is unique and their potential astounds us.
